FAQ

Health advice from Mecredi's professional nutrition team

It's widely believed that the higher the concentration of fish oil, the better. Your fish oil has only 80% concentration; doesn't that make the product rather ordinary?

There are four criteria to judge the quality of fish oil, among which freshness is the foremost. Fish oil is highly prone to oxidation, and once oxidized, its consumption by cats and dogs not only lacks benefits but may also trigger inflammation, increasing the risk of diseases. Therefore, the primary consideration for good fish oil should be its freshness rather than concentration. The freshness of fish oil can be assessed by factors such as odor (slightly fishy) and color (clear when dropped into water). Additionally, the total oxidation value can be used to measure the freshness of fish oil, with lower values indicating greater freshness.

How is the palatability of your fish oil?

Palatable with good taste, Mecredy fish oil is made from single-source fresh tuna. However, as every cat has its own preferences, we cannot guarantee that every cat will consume it willingly. If you encounter a cat or dog that is unwilling to eat it, we recommend cutting the end of the fish oil and dripping it into their mouth from the sides.

It is important to note that this product falls under the category of nutritional supplements, with the ingredient list consisting solely of fish oil and no added palatability enhancers. Therefore, the palatability of this product should not be equated with treats or main meals. The focus of this product is on achieving the intended health benefits, rather than whether the cat chooses to consume it. If you are concerned about whether your cat will eat it, we suggest comparing the ingredient list with similar products for reference.

Your fish oil is made from tilapia, while I've seen others using different fish oils like salmon. Is salmon better?

Some brands claim that salmon is better mainly by leveraging people's inherent impression of human food, as salmon is more widely known. However, at present, there is serious heavy metal pollution in the ocean, and marine organisms often carry pollutants such as heavy metals. In the food chain, the higher the level of organisms, the more pollutants they accumulate. In the marine food chain, salmon, compared to deep-sea small fish like tilapia, is positioned at a higher level, leading to a higher accumulation of pollutants in their bodies. Deep-sea small fish species, such as tilapia, have one of the lowest levels of heavy metal content. Therefore, when choosing fish oil raw materials, deep-sea tilapia is actually a better source of fish oil.

Additionally, tilapia itself has a much higher omega-3 content than salmon, and requires less processing in the subsequent refining process.

Note: In addition to the above advantages, mecredy's crude oil plant in Peru has global patented technology that can remove pollutants and heavy metals from fish oil itself (with a patent technology number).

Your products include lecithin, fish oil, and krill oil. Everyone says these are good for the skin and fur of pets. What are the differences between these products?

These products have health benefits for the skin and fur of pets. Lecithin, which is included more as a treat, contains 30% lecithin and 3% fish oil. It is defined as a functional treat with the specific function of promoting a shiny coat. It is not considered a strong or high-frequency treatment and can be fed in the manner of a treat.

Fish oil is aimed at reducing shedding and promoting a healthy coat. Consistent and appropriate consumption will yield visible results. The EPA:DHA ratio of 4:3, the golden ratio, also contributes to the development of the pet's brain and eyes. The fatty acids in fish oil are beneficial for the pet's skin health, fur luster, and anti-inflammatory processes. Fish oil can also aid in reducing arthritis and promoting a healthy immune system.

Krill oil is an upgraded version of fish oil, with a phospholipid form that has a six times higher absorption efficiency than fish oil. This makes it more efficient in promoting a shiny coat. Additionally, krill oil's oil-soluble characteristics have positive effects on cardiovascular and heart health, making it particularly recommended for overweight or elderly cats and dogs.

Why do other brands of fish oil advertise having a lot of Omega-6, while yours does not?

Fish oil is typically recommended because it is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly EPA and DHA, rather than Omega-6. People usually focus on the Omega-3 content of fish oil, as it is believed to be beneficial for heart health, anti-inflammatory effects, and other physiological functions. Maintaining a balance between Omega-6 and Omega-3 is crucial for sustaining normal physiological functions and preventing chronic diseases. Excessive Omega-6 can lead to unnecessary inflammation in the body, and many other pet foods already contain Omega-6. Our fish oil contains some Omega-6, with 80% being Omega-3, contributing to a balanced fatty acid profile for pets.

What is the fish oil content in Mecredy?

Our product is 99% pure fish oil, without any added oils or fats. It has received certification for pure oil quality from authoritative organizations.

What is lecithin? What is the difference between lecithin and OMEGA-3?

All cell membranes are composed of lecithin. The lecithin in krill oil exists in the form of Omega-3 and choline, ensuring excellent transport and efficient delivery. It integrates highly with cell membranes, directly entering all tissues of the body. The absorption rate of regular fish oil is approximately 18%; krill oil has an absorption rate of over 95%, with the absorption rate of Omega-3 being more than 6 times that of fish oil. This maximizes health benefits at the cellular level.

How is the palatability of your krill oil product?

Palatability is good; our product is made from pure krill oil, and the natural shrimp flavor makes it palatable. After 100 cats and dogs underwent palatability testing, the direct licking rate reached up to 90%. Compared to fish oil, the natural shrimp flavor itself has a tempting effect. When mixed with dry food, canned food, cat treats, and other snacks, the initial intake rate can be as high as 98% or more. However, individual preferences vary, and we cannot guarantee that every pet will voluntarily consume it. If you encounter a cat or dog that refuses to eat, we recommend cutting open the tail of the krill oil and dripping it into the mouth from the gaps on both sides.

What are the functions of krill oil, and what are the differences compared to fish oil?

Krill oil can be understood as an upgraded version of fish oil, with phospholipids being more readily absorbed directly into cell membranes, and the absorption rate of Omega-3 being six times that of fish oil. Krill oil effectively reduces blood lipids, making it more suitable for elderly and obese cats and dogs, effectively reducing the cardiovascular burden. It is rich in astaxanthin, which helps slow down the aging process in pets.

What are the ingredients in Mecredy krill oil, besides krill?

This product is pure krill oil without any additional additives. The ingredient list is clean, and it can be consumed with confidence.

Where do the raw materials come from, and what are the advantages?

In reality, ocean pollution is a serious concern, with marine life often carrying pollutants such as heavy metals. Antarctic deep-sea krill, compared to typical large oceanic fish, has minimal levels of heavy metals due to its small size and position at the bottom of the food chain. Unlike larger fish that may accumulate excessive levels of heavy metals in their bodies over time due to dietary habits, krill is a superior choice as a source of oil.

How is the palatability of this product?

This product belongs to the category of nutritional supplements, so its palatability should not be considered equivalent to treats or main meals. The purchase of such products is for the ultimate effectiveness. Of course, we make adjustments to enhance palatability by adding natural ingredients with enticing effects, such as chicken liver powder. If your pet doesn't eat it directly, you can use the grinder we provide to crush it and mix it with their favorite treats for feeding.

According to the instructions, will it be too many pills for large dogs to eat a lot of this product?
  1. In order to be suitable for pets of various sizes, we intentionally made the tablet size small for easy consumption by small pets. For large dogs, simply adjust the feeding amount based on their weight. With a large capacity of 200 tablets per bottle, it is also sufficient for the daily needs of an ordinary large dog for about a month.
